Artist's Description
This Drake and his female friend were located in a small stream below a waterfall coming off of a small dam. For some reason, this guy was sticking his head underwater and holding it there, facing against the flow of water. I watched him for a while and never saw him come up with food. My best guess is that he was using his bill to filter food out as the water passed through. I'm not sure, however, and I am open to other theories. Regardless, the flowing water and his technique resulted in some fun shots as water poured over his back each time he brought his head up for some air.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England.
