Description
Semipalmated Sandpipers migrate through the area in the spring and late summer/fall. They are small birds that will run back and forth (much like Sanderlings) to get what ever food each wave deposits on the beach. If you look closely at a larger image, you can just make out a bit of webbing in between the toes. That's why it is called semipalmated. I settled in with my camera, trying not to disturb anybody, and it worked; this little guy walked toward me, but I'm not sure he ever took notice before heading back toward the water.
