I spent some time watching this Black Swallowtail Butterfly, and while it's not the first time I've seen this behavior, I am still fascinated by how it continued to flutter its smaller set of wings while holding the other set mostly still.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England.
