I have astigmatism and a small eye refractive error, but I don't wear my glasses when I'm out taking pictures. Keep that in mind when I tell you that until recently, I assumed that little red spot in the center Queen Anne's Lace was some sort of insect. I always wondered why so many blooms had this same bug on it. I know, I'm pretty dense, but I now know those are actually tiny red petals, and one legend has it that Queen Anne (nobody knows which one) pricked her finger while tatting lace, and that red spot on the flower is from a drop of blood from her finger.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
