Artist's Description

The Blackstone River was referred to as the "hardest-working river in America" during the industrial revolution. It was once lined with busy mill buildings that used the river and its canals to transport goods. There are numerous dams with different functioning capabilities to be seen, and this one, the Pratt Dam is the closest to where I live, and I usually stop to watch the water as it moves through. We've had a lot of rain during the Fall and, now, the beginning of Winter, so the water levels are high. This shot was taken after the levels had fallen one to two feet, judging by the debris I saw stuck on some trees in the water. I love the beautiful old rock construction and arches of this dam, and it looks great with the spray from the rushing water.

I am particularly fond of birds, and I share a love of birding with my...
