Black-capped Chickadees are abundant around here, and they are one of our year-round residents. They are active, chatty little birds, and I often walk by without lifting my camera, but this one landed in a great spot. By the time I lifted my camera, it was taking off. I confess, I didn't think I had a prayer of getting a good shot and I was quite surprised I didn't end up with one big blur.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends. My love of animals and all of God's creation has inspired me ever since. There are so many details to discover outdoors, from bees collecting nectar to the great expanse of mountains and oceans.
