While I may have spotted quite a few Dunlin flying, only a few landed on the beach near me. They were keeping company with numerous Sanderling, and they were all frantically looking for food before the next time they got spooked and took off in flight again. This Dunlin is trying to make the best use of its time to look for its next meal in the water.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
