Description
This Ring-billed Gull was digging into the wet sand with its bill, apparently looking for something to eat; it didn't look like it found anything, but it was doing what I am more likely to see small shorebirds do. As soon as the water receded after each wave, it would run onto the wet sand to look for anything the water might have deposited in or stirred up (not sure which) in the sand. Then, it would run back out as the next wave hit the shore. Since gulls don't exactly run like shorebirds, this one used its wings to help propel itself away from the incoming wave. I suppose the bigger waves that day might have influenced an increase in this type of behavior.

Excellent Clarity...Notice how excellently the gull's color blends so well with the beach water in the background!
