How the Light Hits Her Canvas Print

The female hooded merganser does not have the striking colors of her male counterpart, but her hood is quite spectacular when it's raised and the light hits it. She's a pretty duck and never strayed far from the male in the image entitled, "Wearing a Hood."

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
