The coolest things happen! The water level had risen into a bit of an overflow area from heavy rain. It was followed by a flash freeze, and then the water level went down leaving a lot of suspended ice. The ice actually looked like it had ripples in it...not quite sure how that happened, but it adds so much movement to the ice. It 's a bit of a weird effect, but the leaf on the right is indeed covered by ice, but it must have been covered in layers? You can see the impurities in the ice.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England.
