You never see just one fern. They often cover large areas of ground in the woods. In this case, there were patches growing next to the bike trail, and I really enjoy the sculptural quality of these green beauties.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
