You don't want to eat False Turkey Tail, so make sure you know the difference between this and Turkey Tail (edible). Don't rely on my ID either; I'm not very knowledgeable. I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. Interesting information and capture, did not know you could eat either kind. Morels, and puffballs which appear in the early fall are the only two that I know you can safely cook. I love mushrooms, but mostly just buy the ones in the stores now, but used to love hunting for morels.
Linda Bonaccorsi replied:
I think Turkey Tail is ground up into a powder. So, you wouldn't eat it in the same way you eat the others. Thanks Angela!
