Artist's Description
We had the rare occurrence this week; The sun came out, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. After all the rain and gray days we've had lately, I couldn't wait to head outside, and I headed for the coast. Common Eiders are, well, common around here, but they are interesting surf ducks. On this particular day, the water was as calm as could be, and there were a couple of females hanging out within a few feet of the shore. It was a great opportunity to see and appreciate the detail of their feathers.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England.
