A recent storm had carved a chunk out of the beach. So, instead of the sand sloping down to the water, it dropped off right behind the piping plover. It made for a beautiful view for both of us until the sound of my shutter going off caught its attention. I do have a telephoto lens, but my camera is particularly noisy. I was only able to take a few shots before this threatened shorebird made it clear I was making it nervous. I left it to go about its business. Note to self: Next camera needs to be quieter.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
