This cute little song sparrow was one of very few birds we spotted during our walk through Douglas State Forest. It was a very quiet day. Despite being known for its song, our sparrow was quiet too. That song is reserved for spring breeding. This cutie will be migrating out of the area soon, and I look forward hearing it again next spring.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
