Evidently, as long as you frequent the right areas, Pileated Woodpeckers are not that rare of a site, but for me, it's been years since I've seen one, and this is only the second time I've even gotten a picture. So, woohoo for me! I can't look at one of these woodpeckers without thinking of the Woody Woodpecker Song. Don't worry if you don't know the song; you're probably too young.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
