We had snow that was followed by freezing rain, and the next day was a beautiful winter day. So, out I went, and had a very noisy walk in crunchy snow. I loved every minute, but I just wasn't getting excited about the picture opportunities. It's not that it wasn't beautiful; it's that every time, I looked at it through my camera, it just felt flat. The ice on the stream flowing through the woods was an exception. I loved how the edge of the ice hanging over the water looked like delicate lace.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
