We had stopped at a farm for some ice cream after a long day. I decided to walk down to where there were fence-enclosed fields hoping to see some horses, but there wasn't a single farm animal in sight. While I was standing there, however, this Cedar Waxwing flew into a tree, perched for a few minutes, then flew off. I was thrilled to have an open shot even if the distance between me and this beauty was further than I would have liked.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
