Artist's Description

I've been running into quite a few Mallards lately. I don't know if these are the stragglers that are going to try to stick it out for the winter or if they are on their way to warmer waters. The four ducks shown in this image were among a larger group, maybe double the size of this. I Liked the contrast of the four against the gray tones of the water, made that way by the reflections of the surrounding rocks.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends. My love of animals and all of God's creation has inspired me ever since. There are so many details to discover outdoors, from bees collecting nectar to the great expanse of mountains and oceans.
