Artist's Description

Piping Plovers really are stinkin' cute. They summer in our area, and this one is summering on the Cape. It seems like quite the life until you realize they lay their eggs in the sand, and they are vulnerable to numerous predators as well as coastal storms that can wipe out their nests. They appear to be monitoring the plovers on this beach, and they have provided cage-like enclosures over a couple of the nests (the birds can go in and out, but the predators can't get in).
