Sanderlings are fun to watch, but a pain to photograph, because they are constantly running back and forth. Since they eat from what each wave brings in, they have to run away as a wave crashes, race back to poke around for food, and run back out when the next wave comes in. It's a wonder they don't burn off more than what they take in.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
