Artist's Description

Wild turkeys are pretty abundant around here. we have three females and a male that stop traffic in our neighborhood on a regular basis as they slowly walk down the street. I cannot explain why they like hanging out in the middle of the road, but they do. I have seen one of our neighborhood turkeys going after a delivery driver who carried a broom with him that came in handy to protect himself from just such a problem. Several people living on that street came out with their own tools of choice to help this poor delivery driver. I promise, no turkey was injured, just redirected. They can be very stubborn birds. This is not that turkey, but the bench in the background of this image reminds me of how comfortable these birds have become around people. This guy was putting on a great show for one lovely lady who was playing hard to get. I never saw her lift her head from eating to even acknowledge his presence...poor guy!

My love of animals and all of God's creation has inspired me ever since. There are so many details to discover outdoors, from bees collecting nectar to the great expanse of mountains and oceans. I am particularly fond of birds, and I share a love of birding with my...
