This is the same iris in the image next to it in my gallery. I liked them both images for different reasons, and the thing I loved about this one is how the shadows in the lower part of the picture gives the illusion that the flower is floating. It makes the purple of the flower stand out among the field of green around it.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends.
