This is a youngster that was following closely behind mom. They were both filling up on the dried leaves in the area. I'm pretty sure they were being somewhat specific in their choice, and we can see this leaf still has some green color to it. My guess is it came from a common bush in the area.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England.
