It has been several years since I've even had an opportunity to photograph one of these cool creatures. I rarely see them, and when I do, I'm not in a place where I can get a shot. When I saw this butterfly moth, I also saw at least one more, maybe two. Of course, they were nowhere near enough for me to get a shot. So, I waited and waited, and while I waited, I was practically eaten alive by mosquitoes. Finally, they came closer, and they kept coming back...good thing since, like hummingbirds, they keep hovering without landing while they drink. I needed every chance I could get. This is one of two that I managed to capture.

I love these two photos, Linda. Hummingbird moths are one of my favorite things to photograph. Two years ago, I found several in a country garden buzzing around a group of butterfly bushes. They were there again last year, but only for a few days. Your two captures are of remarkable quality.

A really appreciate that Robert. They are a really special sighting for me.
