Artist's Description

It wasn't the most productive walk picture-wise. I thought I saw a Bald Eagle, but when I went through my pictures, I discovered it was a Great Blue Heron. Don't judge; if you saw the direction the bird was flying, the distance away and how the light and shadow was hitting it, you'd understand. The walk, however, wasn't a total loss. After hearing some Golden-crowned Kinglets in the area, I finally spotted this cutie, and he actually headed toward me to take a quick look at me. It was a great ending to my walk.

I grew up in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City, and while some might find the endless rolling plains to be boring, I love the open space and fantastic sunsets. I have since lived in Minnesota, Rhode Island (briefly), New Hampshire, and now reside in Massachusetts. Most of my photos were taken in New England. I started taking pictures around the age of 10, borrowing my dad's point and shoot to document my adventures during a trip to Colorado with close family friends. My love of animals and all of God's creation has inspired me ever since. There are so many details to discover outdoors, from bees collecting nectar to the great expanse of mountains and oceans.
